I took in a pregnant stray that followed me home and named her Midnight. We later found out that her previous owners abandoned her and four other cats. Exper…

  1. ctd..gve her fresh water, litter tray and kitten food. You hve to give her kitten food from now on until she stops feeding her kittens because the food is nutritional and will aid the growth of the kittens. There is so much more but let me knw wht happens if u r panicking and I will do my best to help. I could write loads more but if the birth is fine then the rest is irrelevant. I have written a total of 4 replies so I hope u have received them. It is a wonderful thing to experience, enjoy it.

  2. continued… Like I said she should do this herself, these are just precautionary measures you should take. Once she has given birth, torn the amniotic sac and cut the umbilical cord she will begin to clean them and feed them. Do not pick them up until after two days and ONLY if the mother cat lets you. Change the bedding by replacing the existing one with clean old blankets. Before birth, she will look for a place (nesting) so if you want to make sure she is one place show her a room and…

  3. continued… she must break the amniotic sac so that the kittens can breathe and chew off the umbilical cord. She should do this however, there is a small chance she won’t so you will need a pair of gloves to gently break the amniotic sac yourself being CAREFUL to not hurt the kittens and some dental floss to tie around the umbilical cord…about an inch a way from the kitten only when the placenta has come out of the cat. Only do these things if your cat has not done it herself but….

  4. Make sure you confine her to a room if you have other pets and place lots of old blankets/t-shirts in a big box. The box needs to be cut in a way so that she can walk into it and lay down rather than jumping into it. Ensure that all cupboards and wardrobes are always shut because you do not want her to give birth in a place that is difficult for you to gain access to and difficult to clean up. When she gives birth you need to make sure there are equal amounts placenta per kitten and that….

  5. The eyes of both kittens needed a bit of attention. Esp. Nomad’s. Mariah’s are perfect now, but she swims in her food … very greasy muffin, but cute. Nomad’s eyes may always be high maintenance, but I hope to at least get them to about as good as Tiny Bear’s … i.e. need daily care, but look good most of the time.

  6. Molly, we all seem to be noticing that Mariahs eyes look so different from the other day. How do you account for that? They seem to be so happy and settled in…..we all know that is because of your tender loving care. How is everyone else doing? Have you seen any odd or unhappy behaviors coming from our beloved gang? Lin

  7. I did wipe her face, but it never lasts long… and a small trim which kinda sorta helps. But overall she’s much more confident, playful, etc… hopefully she will be fully photogenic soon. lol. What can I say, she’s an URCHIN

  8. Mariah looks great! Did she get a trim or a face wash or something? It seems like she has a rounder face and her eyes are more open than in previous vids. She’s very cute!

  9. Thanks for the info re their daddies (what handsome beasties they are!), I like to study pedigrees too. Love Fibonacci’s name. Sophie’s daddy hailed from the USA and his name was Carmine much to my Italian Dad’s delight.

  10. Yes! You have the mummies right. Nomad’s daddy is Lennox and Mariahs’ is Fibonacci (sp?) – Feebs for short. Blue Ginger is call “Skeet” I guess because they already had another cat called Ginger. These kittens are bit more in-bred than I would normally like, but I’m hoping it will work out okay. Much of what they call “line breeding” on both dam and sire sides so the kittens are related. Most Persians are, but these two, maybe a bit more so for that reason. I really study the pedigrees.

  11. Absolutely adorable kitties added to your home. They are so lucky to have you as their Mom! You are amazing with these kitties. Thank you so much for sharing your good fortune.

  12. Mariah looks much less grumpy today. Amazing what finding the food of the gods will do for a kitten’s disposition, eh? 🙂 She is so sweet!

  13. Molly, your beautiful little babies look very happy, healthy and settled. Congratulations on such a smooth transition! Is Mariah’s mummy Ginger and Nomad’s mummy Cheena?
